Way back in 1939, a fledgling airline called Trans Canada Airlines opened Crumlin Airport to commercial air travel for the first time in London, Ontario.

The local head of Trans Canada Airlines was a former CNR Sales Manager named Stan Blowes.  Stan Blowes remained with Trans Canada Airlines in Windsor and London until 1949 at which time he resigned, and headed to Stratford to buy a small Travel Agency.

In 1949, hardly anyone travelled by air, as it was a new and sometimes frightening way to travel.  The travel agency that Stan Blowes purchased in Stratford sold only Rail Tickets and Steamship Tickets.  Mr. Blowes built his Travel Agency on these two modes of travel, while slowly convincing people to fly.  His business continued to grow and eventually became one of the most respected names in the travel business in SouthWestern Ontario.

The Blowes Travel Agency has remained in family hands since the beginning and has grown and thrived for almost 60 years.

Now, the next two generations of the Blowes family, Stan's son Barry and his wife Jane and their son Rob, have taken the big step and are returning to London.  We have been fortunate enough to acquire The travel bug® in Byron and look forward to establishing a long and successful relationship with the people in London.
